Mike has been with the company for twenty years and has served in several capacities across the organization. He was the first employee hired by Chuang and his two founding partners, Steve Kapner and Mia Wenjen, when they started Aquent in 1986 while attending Harvard College.
As director of operations, Mike was instrumental in launching many of the company's thirty-seven US offices, including Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Washington, DC, Denver, Cleveland, and Phoenix. Other key positions Smith has held with Aquent include chief financial officer and director of international operations, responsible for all the company's international markets throughout Canada, Europe, and Asia Pacific. He was named Aquent’s chief operating officer in 1999.
Mike graduated in 1987 from Harvard College where he studied medieval and ancient history.
