Since co-founding Aquent in 1986, Steve Kapner has played a central role in developing and implementing the company’s strategy, helping to lead Aquent from a dorm-room start-up to operating in seventy offices across seventeen countries.
Steve’s roles at Aquent have run the gamut. In the early days he and his partners worked in frontline sales during the day and as billable talent at night, sleeping on the office floor in between. He has served as CFO, managing director of corporate development, general manager of an internal dot-com start-up (where he learned the value in failing quickly and cheaply), and president of both Creative and IT staffing operations. Most recently Steve launched and ran Aquent’s data analytics staffing business, solidifying Aquent as a leader at the intersection of marketing and IT.
Outside of Aquent Steve has managed venture capital investments for Harvard University’s endowment fund and worked as a consultant for the Boston Consulting group, where he led strategy and implementation teams for Fortune 100 clients. He teaches executive education seminars in entrepreneurship, has been a guest speaker at Harvard Business School, and serves on the board of a nonprofit economic development organization. He has co-hosted a weekly radio talk show, trained on an amphibious assault ship with the US Navy, and had Tom Peters ask him for advice.
Steve earned an AB cum laude from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. |
