AQUENT NAMES GREG SAVAGE CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR ITS ASIA PACIFIC OPERATIONS
Sydney, Australia (May 11, 2002) - Aquent, a full-service talent agency for creative design and Web professionals, has named Greg Savage chief executive for its Asia Pacific operations. Savage will have overall responsibility for the company's offices in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Osaka, and Singapore. He will be based in Sydney.
"Greg brings a wealth of experience and an outstanding track record to his new position with Aquent," said John Chuang, the company's co-founder and CEO. "We're thrilled to have him join our management team and know that he will continue his history of delivering top-notch results."
Prior to taking a sabbatical from his full-time career in 1999, Savage served as executive director and chief operating officer for Recruitment Solutions Limited, a recruiting firm he founded in Sydney at age 28. During his 13-year tenure there, he and his two founding partners built the company to a staff of 150 with eight offices in five states generating revenues in excess of $50 million, culminating in a successful IPO in 1998. He also served in management positions with the largest accounting recruiter in the U.K. and an executive placement firm in Australia.
As Aquent's chief executive for Asia Pacific, Savage will manage client and talent services, staff, and marketing for operations in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Singapore. Responsibilities include developing client service and account management programs and overall strategic planning and review of individual office strategies in the region. In addition, Savage will drive expansion for Aquent in Asia Pacific including start-ups in markets where the company is not presently represented. Identifying strategic acquisitions and raising the profile of the business, region wide, will also be a large part of his responsibilities.
During his sabbatical, Savage periodically served as an independent consultant to the recruiting industry during which he conducted a series of coaching seminars in Australia. In an unprecedented response to a one-person training seminar, more than 700 owners, managers and consultants in Sydney and Melbourne, representing nearly 300 recruitment firms, attended the series of one-day seminars.
An honours graduate in Psychology from the University of Cape Town, Savage also earned a graduate degree from Flinders University of South Australia. He has served as vice president of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA) in New South Wales, sat on the National Board of RCSA, and acted for several years as Convenor of the RCSA Ethics Committee. Throughout his career he has delivered over 300 speeches and seminars covering a wide range of recruiting, retention, management, and career issues to audiences throughout Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore, Fiji, and Indonesia.
