Job Description:

I'm looking for a top notch Visual/UI Designer who will be responsible for delivery of UI to support best-in-class customer experiences on this leading consumer website. You will provide exceptional visual design work and contribute to the evolution of the look and feel of the site, it’s products and its design systems. You'll be in a stage in your career become the go-to for the visual/UI knowledge on the brand and be working as part of a wider team of UX & UI designers throughout out the business.

What will you be doing?
 Developing best in class UI for ongoing optimisation of the site
 Working with Product Managers, UX Designers and front-end developers to deliver designs that can be usedfor customer research prototypes, and support our test and learn approach across the breadth of the product
 Working with internal and third party (offshore) development teams to ensure the design can be applied to new and existing systems
 Guiding Editorial writers, and key stakeholders through each stage of the design lifecycle
 Develop, manage and evolve a UI component library to form the foundations of a design system

What do you need to excel in this role?
Previous experience of working in digital, publishing, UX & design teams, with developers, copywriters and having an understanding of their disciplines. Be able to show where you have worked within strict visual frameworks and the times you have been able to push the brief further. Confidence presenting ideas and influencing stakeholders while understanding and protecting the integrity of the brand and the quality of the design.

 Excellent practical design skills including layout, colour, typography & responsive design demonstrated through strong design portfolio
 Sketching skills for ‘scamping’ campaign ideas and mockups
 Understanding & experience of working with pattern/component libraries contributing to a consistent design language that is scalable
 Experience working with internal and external development teams
 Strong attention to detail
 Time management and project management awareness for on-going design projects
 Experience of using Sketch for creating visual designs
 Experience of using Adobe Creative suite

Nice to have:
 Experience working on large scale content heavy sites developed on an enterprise level CMS
 Persuasive speaking, presentation and negotiation skills
 Working knowledge of Invision or similar for the creation of clickable prototypes
 Knowledge and awareness of how to build web pages using HTML and CSS
 Knowledge of animation & motion specifically when designing for interaction
 Experience of using Zeplin & other tools for providing design documentation

 Degree in visual communications or digital design or similar


 Currently in design role or with over 2 years’ experience as a UI designer either agency side or client side
 Proven record of working on industry leading design projects
 Examples of previous work (academic studies and client work) should be shown
 Strong theoretical and practical design skills
 Experience wireframing
 Experience and knowledge of Agile web development process
Nice to have
 Experience and knowledge of user testing designs & interactions with customers
 Experience and knowledge designing for A/B and multivariant testing process

 Clear communicator
 Self-motivated
 Comfortable with the idea of being an internal advocate of design and the visual identity 
 Creative mindset, comfortable sketching ideas and concepts or brainstorming marketing ideas on
 Confident and able to work with senior stakeholders
 Strong problem-solving skills, able to think of alternative solutions quickly and then validate them
 Ability to be internal advocate of design and the brand
