Job Description:

This full-time contract position offers a hybrid working model with onsite days in the Central London, Kings Cross offices.

This role is paid on a PAYE basis and you'll be entitled to 33 days paid holiday, inclusive of bank holidays, per annum, pro rata.

There is also a company bonus plan that you could be eligible for.

The Role

Our client is seeking a CS-savvy Technical Artist to work within a fantastic Robotics team, supporting their research projects and tasks to advance robotics research. 

As a Technical Artist in the Robotics team, you will play a key role in enabling ongoing research goals through the design, simulation and manufacturing of 3D objects and props for robots to interact with. The special interdisciplinary team combines the best techniques from deep learning, reinforcement learning and systems neuroscience to build general-purpose learning algorithms.

Within your role as a Technical Artist role, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Manipulating existing 3D models and meshes both programmatically and using ad hoc software (Blender, MeshLab, 3D studio, MeshMixer)
  • Designing and manufacturing (with 3D printing or traditional manufacturing processes) various 3D objects for robots to interact with
  • Modifying rendering parameters of simulated scenes
  • Aiding in the creation of insightful visual representations for debugging and publication

To apply for this Technical Artist role, you will need experience in creating and manipulating 2D and 3D assets.

You will also require the following:

  • 2 years of experience with Python
  • 3D Modelling experience with working knowledge of at least one of these: Blender, Rhino, 3DS Max, Maya
  • CAD Software experience with working knowledge of OnShape, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360
  • Basic understanding of physics simulation software
