A financial services firm embarked on a “mobile first” strategy for its new consumer-facing websites and applications, and was creating a new Financial Technology department to execute on this goal. They wanted creative and digital talent who could bring an innovative approach to everything from the user experience to the site’s visual elements. However, they were having trouble identifying the proper talent to help them. The client lamented, "The digital space is transforming so much that it’s been extremely difficult to find the right talent. The general staffing agencies we worked with were blindly sending us tons of CVs, simply because the candidates had certain keywords on their CVs, but they weren’t the right people."
Aquent consulted with the firm to help identify the recruiting obstacles. The Aquent team found that the biggest issue at hand was a need to better define the roles. The job descriptions primarily included a laundry list of requirements, but did little to sell talent on why to work for the organisation. Additionally, interested candidates had no insight into the impact that their work could have on the organisation.
To overcome these challenges, a member of Aquent’s Expert Network worked closely with the hiring manager to uncover the critical skillsets of each role, what business problems they were looking to solve, and what would get talent excited about the opportunity. He then helped to redefine the roles, and articulated those clearly through compelling new job descriptions.
Aquent agents then began reaching out to discover talent who not only had the right skills, but who would fit well with the company’s culture and work well as a team. In short order, Aquent recruited exceptional talent, including a UX strategist, creative director, visual designer, web producer, and content strategist. This new team is now designing a new process for how all the client’s web and mobile products are conceptualised and executed.
The feedback about Aquent talent has been phenomenal. The client reports that they’re very productive and are a pleasure to work with. “They work well with our product managers in supporting their vision. And they’re working with our agency of record and whipping them into shape!”
Since that time, the partnership with Aquent has flourished. The client has brought in many new Aquent contractors to build out additional teams to support the firm’s mobile and digital goals.
