The client: 

For over 50 years my client has been a leading voice for nature. We are the world’s largest conservation organisation, working in 100 countries and with over 5 million supporters. They work with governments, businesses and communities on environmental issues with a
single mission: to build a world where people live and prosper in harmony with nature. They have their foundation in science and we work towards a sustainable planet, striving to conserve biodiversity in Australia and throughout the Oceania region. Behind the scenes of their on-ground conservation projects are teams of scientists, policy and communications experts, lawyers and other specialists, all supported by their regional and national staff members. They do not engage in activities that support political parties, seek to persuade members of the public to vote for or against particular candidates or parties in an election, participate in party political demonstrations, or distribute material designed to underpin a party political campaign.

 

Purpose of Job: The position translates UX guidelines and design concepts into responsive high performance web pages for targeted audiences, and works collaboratively within teams responsible for the creation, development, and delivery of innovative and engaging digital communications platforms to help my client achieve its conservation, brand and fundraising goals.

Key Accountabilities 

 Works on front-end development activities by engaging closely with the Graphic Designer, back end developers, communications and fundraising stakeholders to deliver digital solutions using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/JQuery.
 As a team member, establishes technical requirements and develops plans that enable e-commerce and lead conversion optimisation.
 Collaborates with developers to deliver on new business initiatives and platform enhancements.
 Develops new and effective interactive design solutions on time and in scope.
 Integrates user-facing elements developed by the Graphic Designer with server side logic.
 Builds reusable code and libraries for future use.
 Optimises platforms for performance, including maximum speed, mobile responsiveness and scalability.
 Ensures work is delivered to high quality, on brand, within deadlines and to budget.
 Undertakes research and analysis of current trends in design and technology to provide technical insights and recommendations to enhance UX and optimise digital capabilities.
 Publishes and updates web pages and product pages using our Content Management System.

Job Level responsibilties 

 Contributes to operational planning, systems, processes, delivery and reporting.
 Complies with legislation, standards, policies and practices, particularly Advocacy with Excellence, Information Security, health and safety, child protection, security, sustainability, and equal employment opportunity.
 Aligns own work with WWFs mission, Guiding Principles, Brand and I-KODE Values – Acts with Integrity, Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
 Seeks approval from the CEO for international travel.

Essential selection criteria:

Front-end developer experience including strong knowledge of e-commerce and/or lead conversion environments
 Ability to write reusable, testable, and efficient code
 Excellent HTML & advanced CSS skills, including transitions and animation
 Experience working with:
o Front-end frameworks e.g. React, Vue, or Angular
o Repository tools e.g. GIT, Bitbucket
o Responsive CSS frameworks e.g. Foundation or Twitter Bootstrap
o Implement components e.g. Javascript/jQuery, modern Javascript libraries
o Front End Tooling e.g. Webpack, Babel
o Cross browser compatibility and devices
o SEO experience and an understanding of SEO compliant markup

o Responsive design and common issues in the domain
o Comprehensive back-end API support
 Knowledge and experience working in an Agile development environment and
managing work via tracking tools
 Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines within a complex work environment
 Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a
team environment
 Analytical skills and an ability to troubleshoot issues and provide solutions
