As a UX Researcher, you will own outcomes for one mature project, complex program, or emerging area by setting and communicating product direction and priorities for a small number of collaborators. You will identify high-value opportunities and potential constraints that inform cross-functional product initiatives and contribute to the design systems or languages to improve the quality and consistency of design systems or languages. Navigating to define a scalable and sustainable approach, you will take full ownership of solving difficult problems with limited precedent to enhance the end-user experience.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include advocating UX design, building consensus across teams, and gaining support for design strategy across stakeholders. You will create design deliverables, collaborate with engineers, and guide design specifications for implementation. Additionally, you will create innovative design solutions to user, product, and business problems, anticipate evolving design constraints, and communicate the rationale of design choices. Your role will involve executing design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends, and driving improvements based on UX testing and stakeholder input.

Skills/Experience/Education:

  • Aesthetic Sensibility: Ability to make design decisions that increase the overall appeal of a product based on relevant aesthetic trends and appropriate application of Google and product brand styling.
  • Craftsmanship: Ability to make design decisions that result in a coherent product, platform, or user experience, including questioning and assessing execution, craft, longevity, and scale of designs.
  • Data-Driven Design: Ability to analyze information, draw conclusions, generate alternatives and solutions, and evaluate outcomes using data to add value to business planning and strategies.
  • Interactive Technology: Knowledge of how people use and interact with technology to influence the design, evaluation, and iterative improvement of interactive hardware and software systems.
  • Presentations: Ability to prepare effective presentations in content and function, and speak competently to the level of the audience.
  • Product Design: Knowledge of product design principles and user-centric processes.
  • Product Development Lifecycle: Understanding of the overall process for developing products, roles and responsibilities of engineering and other functions, major phases, checkpoints, and deliverables.
  • Software Systems Thinking: Ability to analyze situations or problems at the system level considering how factors or components in a system interrelate and work over time within the context of larger systems.
  • Storytelling: Ability to influence and inspire an audience by crafting stories using data that elicit empathy or create buy-in.
  • UX Research Methodology: Knowledge of principles and methods for defining and measuring UX, and the ability to adapt UX research methods to the appropriate user interface and platform.
  • User Behavior: Understanding of behavioral characteristics of users and their goals with regards to the problem being solved, informing product design and development.

Experience: Mid to senior-level researcher with solid research experience, including at least 1 year in mobile research.

Skills Required:

  • Strong familiarity with running iterative, generative, and evaluative research.
  • Strong skills presenting insights to cross-functional product teams/stakeholders.
  • Comfortable collaborating with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers in a fast-paced research environment.
