Director of UX Design, Enterprise Design Systems

Overview

A top US retailer is looking to hire a UX Design to head the Enterprise Design Systems team, leading the evolution of the enterprise design system for the AI age, through highly strategic and craft-based design leadership. Leveraging generative AI tooling, design-to-code automation, and robust design systems governance models, you will champion enterprise-wide adoption and adherence to the company’s design standards, enabling everyone (designers, engineers, writers, etc.) to deliver consumer-grade digital experiences, consistently and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Ability to define and advocate for an enterprise-wide design systems vision
• Track record of shipping and managing complex design systems, in a fast-moving and changing enterprise – one that celebrates experimentation, iteration, and shipping at scale 
• Built and managed multi-disciplinary teams of designers, researchers, writers, and front-end developers, while creating a strong design systems culture
• A strong strategic mindset and a systems thinking approach 
• Adept with modern design systems tooling and automation
• Engagement deeply in the details of the work, while inspiring and empowering designers to deliver beautiful, thoughtful solutions for our end users
• Driving the design strategy and delivering on the future vision
• Partnering with the business, engineering, and product partners to create a compelling vision that will inform the roadmap for our associate products and services
• Owning and delivering all phases of product design work across the portfolio (these include defining the north star, distilling research, design ideation, prototyping, final spec design, implementation) 
• Leading your team in a way that nurtures the unique strengths of each member and brings them together in a way that has multiplying effect  

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Design related field and 12+ years of experience in product design, with at least 8 years managing teams of managers and individual contributors. 
• MUST HAVE experience leading Design Systems teams and leveraging AI tools for design systems governance.
