Localization Specialist - Simplified Chinese

Overview

This is a remote position. Please note you MUST be willing to work China Hours. 

Our retail clients company continues to grow internationally, they are looking to break down language barriers and connect more meaningfully with sellers worldwide. We are currently seeking a Localization Specialist for Simplified Chinese to help shape a seamless, localized seller experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

Translation & Review

• Translate English content from all Marketplace channels into Simplified Chinese

• Review translations delivered by external vendors for quality, accuracy, and consistency

• Review and proofread UI strings and marketing, legal, and support content for new launches and existing products

• Maintain linguistic assets: translation memories, glossaries, and style guides in collaboration with regional teams

Quality Control & Issue Resolution

• Perform in-context quality control (QC) for the Seller Center Dashboard, the Seller Center app, and marketing tools

• Audit marketplace content and resolve localization issues flagged by vendors or internal stakeholders

• Act as a quality gatekeeper and market ambassador for Simplified Chinese content

• Ensure the localized UI is fully translated, linguistically accurate, and provides a culturally resonant user experience

Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Train, evaluate, and supervise external linguists

• Regularly communicate with vendor linguists to align terminology, tone, and style

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, PMs, and marketing, to ensure technical and linguistic requirements are met

• Offer regional and cultural insights to drive localized features and improve the user experience for Simplified Chinese

Process & Workflow Optimization

• Contribute to the optimization of localization processes and quality standards

• Clarify and maintain quality expectations and review protocols

• Manage multiple projects independently and prioritize deadlines

Minimum Qualifications

• Native-level fluency in Simplified Chinese, with excellent grammar and tone range

• Fluency in English (spoken and written)

• B.A./B.S. degree in Translation, Linguistics, International Marketing, or related field

• 5+ years of experience in software localization or translation for tech/e-commerce companies

• Experience using CAT tools, TMS systems, and managing automated localization workflows

• Experience with style guide and glossary development

• Understanding of e-commerce user experience and marketplace localization needs

• Proven track record in translation and localization for digital platforms

• Detail-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with LILT and Crowdin platforms

• Experience working with or training Large Language Models (LLMs)

• Background in copywriting or content editing in Simplified Chinese

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40.00 – $43.00/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
