We are seeking a talented individual to join a world-class audio research team, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of sound. As a key member of the team, you will be instrumental in the entire data collection lifecycle, from setting up advanced recording equipment to processing vital multimedia data. Your meticulous approach will ensure the integrity and quality of the data that fuels innovative research, directly impacting the development of revolutionary audio experiences.
This is a 12 months contract, fuly on-site at Cambridge, offering £30.44 per hour PAYE. This role is open for a limited time. Next steps will be shared with shortlisted candidates ASAP. Due to the high volume of applicants, we may be unable to reply to each applicant individually.
**What You’ll Do:**
* Lead the collection of high-quality audio and video data within specialized recording facilities, ensuring precision for research and engineering applications.
* Set up, test, and fine-tune state-of-the-art recording equipment to achieve optimal data capture during collection sessions.
* Process collected multimedia data using industry-standard tools, scripts, and command-line interfaces, maintaining data integrity and consistency.
* Collaborate effectively with internal and external participants during data collection activities, fostering a diverse and rich data pool.
**Must-Have Qualifications:**
* Proven expertise in multimedia equipment setup and recording, ideally from a sound engineering or AV technician background, including proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), audio interfaces, speakers, and microphones.
* Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across all data collection processes.
* A demonstrated passion for sound and audio, evidenced by personal projects such as musical instrument performance, audio recording, or music production.
* Experience managing large datasets, including familiarity with spreadsheets or database systems.
* Programming or scripting capabilities (e.g., Python).
* Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces.
* Understanding of visual positioning or motion capture systems.
* Strong organizational and time management abilities.
* Proficiency in everyday computing tasks.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
* A degree in a numerical or natural science subject, or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
