As a Taxonomy Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of content understanding, directly impacting how users interact with information. As a Taxonomy Specialist on this team, you’ll be immersed in a critical project focused on refining the taxonomy used within the company’s AI systems. You will be a key contributor, ensuring accurate classification of content, products, and more, directly influencing user experience and safety. Collaborate with a talented team of taxonomists and ML engineers to research, design, and implement taxonomies that power intelligent systems.

The position has a 6-months duration with the option for extension and does not support sponsorship or relocation. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis using tools like Excel and Google Sheets to identify matches across diverse vocabularies.
  • Perform internal and external research to enhance node metadata, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide regular status updates to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and potential opportunities.
  • Implement taxonomy updates following established governance guidelines.
  • Label data according to defined taxonomy standards.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Min. 3 years of experience developing taxonomies or ontologies for both front-end and back-end systems.
  • Proven experience in researching and defining taxonomy and ontology node metadata based on industry standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for taxonomy development.
  • Proficiency in data analysis at scale using Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Solid understanding of taxonomy principles and information architecture.
  • Experience with taxonomy or ontology management software.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python.
