We are seeking a passionate, well-rounded UX Designer to cover a parental leave within our UX team. This designer should thrive on solving complex design challenges and be comfortable scaling their thinking from detailed feature work to holistic product experiences. The primary focus is on desktop applications, with additional experience in mobile design.
In this role, you will lead design initiatives from concept through specification and launch. You will partner closely with UX Researchers and Product Managers to influence roadmap decisions through a user-centric lens, while collaborating with engineering teams to ensure successful delivery. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility environment that requires focused, detail-oriented, and efficient UX execution.
The core focus of this position is concepting and delivering experiences that support publishers and champion a free and open internet. We are looking for a self-motivated design practitioner who enjoys collaborating to solve complex user and technical problems. A strong eye for detail, the ability to move quickly, and a passion for design craft are essential. Ideally, you will have experience working with AI, as this role will directly influence the future of publisher tools.
Job Responsibilities
- Define product requirements and design solutions in partnership with Product Management and Engineering.
- Advocate for user needs by identifying mental models and defining end-to-end user experiences across a complex publisher ecosystem.
- Develop user journeys, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and detailed specifications to communicate interaction and design intent.
- Clearly articulate the rationale behind design decisions to cross-functional partners.
- Partner closely with User Researchers to learn about users and test and validate design concepts.
- Collaborate with Engineering to ensure designs are implemented to specification and to develop creative solutions when technical constraints arise.
Required Qualifications
- MA/MS degree in Design (e.g., Interaction, Product, Industrial Design) or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep expertise in Figma, including high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain design rationale.
- Experience designing complex desktop or web applications and solving challenging interaction problems from pre- to post-launch.
- Proven track record of designing and launching high-quality, usable products.
- Familiarity with user research methods and experience working closely with researchers.
- Experience defining and evolving design systems, components, and patterns.
- Strong systems thinking skills, with the ability to understand dependencies and constraints across large product ecosystems and roadmaps.
- Portfolio or relevant work samples included with your application (viewable link or access instructions required).
Nice to Have
- AI Experience: Hands-on experience designing UX solutions powered by AI technologies, with an interest in emerging trends and innovation.
- Business Acumen & Product Collaboration: Experience translating complex business requirements and high-level strategy into intuitive, user-centered experiences, and influencing product roadmaps in partnership with Product Managers.
- Expressive Design: A portfolio that demonstrates thoughtful use of delight and expression in functional designs, with strong judgment around when to introduce flourish versus restraint.
