Writers must have relevant experience, strong portfolio examples, and clearly stated day rates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage stakeholders to gather context, validate accuracy and refine messaging.
  • Produce clear, accessible, user-focused copy aligned to brand standards.

Brand Message Book Writing (Mid to Heavyweight)

  • Develop and expand organisational messaging frameworks, boilerplates and corporate narratives.
  • Translate complex subject matter into simple, coherent messaging for diverse audiences, including Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
  • Ensure tone, clarity and alignment across communications materials.
  • Facilitate workshops or stakeholder discussions to shape messaging direction.

Employer Brand Writing (Midweight)

  • Craft clear, inclusive and engaging content aligned to the employee value proposition.
  • Develop recruitment and employee-facing materials, including job adverts, job packs, induction materials and careers web copy.
  • Ensure consistency of tone and messaging across candidate and employee touchpoints.

Policy and Research Report Writing (Heavyweight)

  • Translate complex policy, academic or scientific content into accessible, brand-aligned narratives.
  • Shape structure and messaging to enhance clarity, accessibility and impact.
  • Collaborate closely with brand, policy and scientific stakeholders to define tone, principles and story flow from the outset.
  • Edit and refine draft reports to ensure alignment with brand voice.
  • Confidently manage iterative feedback processes with specialist contributors.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in professional copywriting within brand, digital, policy, research or corporate communications environments.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a background in science or demonstrable experience working with scientific or research-led content.
  • Expertise in at least two of the categories listed above is highly desirable.
  • Ability to translate complex, technical or policy-driven material into clear, engaging content for varied audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leaders or subject matter experts.
